CWS Window Installation: The South Miami Owner’s Guide

If your CWS window needs installation or replacement in South Miami, expect to pay between $850 and $2,400 per window installed, depending on the series, size, and whether it’s an impact-rated unit. We stock CWS-compatible hardware and components on our trucks, and we complete most single-window installations in one visit. The way most South Miami homeowners find us is after a leak shows up around the frame, a sash starts binding, or an old CWS unit fails a post-storm inspection.

CWS builds windows that hold up well in coastal Florida conditions, but no window lasts forever against salt air, afternoon thunderstorms, and hurricane season pressure cycles. We’ve been installing and replacing CWS windows in South Miami since 2011, and we’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with CWS. That independence means we give you a straight answer about whether a part needs replacement or if the whole unit is reaching the end of its service life. Here’s the guide we’d want if it were our house.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS window installation in South Miami typically involves one of three product families: the CWS 7600 Series (aluminum, impact-rated), the CWS 3900 Series (vinyl, energy-focused), or legacy units installed before CWS tightened their coastal certification standards in the mid-2010s. Each series uses different frame depths, glazing beads, and hardware sets, so matching the right part to the right window matters. A balance shoe from a 3900 won’t fit a 7600’s track, and forcing it damages both.

To identify your series, look at the aluminum spacer bar between the glass panes. CWS etches the series number, glass thickness, and manufacturing date there, usually in the bottom corner of the interior-facing side. If the etching is worn off, the frame profile itself tells you: 7600 frames have a deeper, squared channel profile; 3900 frames are narrower with a beveled edge. We keep OEM CWS hardware and quality aftermarket equivalents on our trucks for both, because some original CWS components from the 2000s are no longer manufactured. Where OEM is discontinued, we use aftermarket parts that match or exceed the original spec. Where OEM is still available, that’s what we use. Ed Winslow’s rule is simple: never install a part we wouldn’t put in our own windows at home.

Signs Your CWS Window Installation Is Failing

  • Water staining at the interior corners. In South Miami’s rainy season, this usually means the exterior sealant has cracked or the weep system is clogged with salt and debris. The frame isn’t necessarily shot, but the installation needs attention before the drywall and framing take damage.
  • The sash won’t stay up, or drops suddenly. This points to a failed balance system, whether spring, block-and-tackle, or constant-force. CWS balances from the 7600 Series wear out faster in coastal homes because salt air accelerates spring corrosion. A sash that slams down is a safety hazard, especially with kids around.
  • Condensation between the glass panes. That’s a failed seal. The insulating gas has escaped and the desiccant inside the spacer is saturated. The only repair that lasts is glass replacement, and on CWS units it’s often more cost-effective to replace the entire sash if the frame is still sound.
  • Difficult operation when opening or closing. Binding or grinding typically means the rollers or guides have worn out, or the frame has shifted. On CWS sliding windows in South Miami, track rollers corrode faster than the frame, which is good news: it’s a hardware fix, not a window replacement.
  • Visible gaps or daylight around the frame. Frame settlement or deteriorating sealant allows air and water intrusion. In a South Miami impact-window installation, gaps also reduce the unit’s structural integrity during a storm. This one should be evaluated quickly, especially before hurricane season peaks.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

CWS window installation in South Miami runs $850 to $1,400 for a standard single-hung or fixed unit, $1,100 to $1,900 for sliders and casements, and $1,700 to $2,400 for impact-rated units with specialty sizing or second-story access. The range comes down to frame material, glass package, size, and whether the existing opening needs repair. Our quotes are line-itemed, so you see parts, labor, sealant, and disposal separately. No change orders unless you ask us to do more work.

Every CWS window installation we perform in South Miami includes the replacement components, full perimeter sealant, interior trim work, and cleanup. The Done Right Promise applies to every job we do: if it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s not a marketing line; Ed’s name is on the truck, and the promise means he answers for the work personally.

We also stock parts for PGT, CGI, and ES Windows, so if you’re looking at a multi-window home with mixed brands, one call handles all of it.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a real safety line here, so we’ll draw it plainly. Replacing glass, working with impact-rated frames, or adjusting a failed balance system involves stored tension, heavy glass, and the potential for serious injury. A CWS impact window sash can weigh over 40 pounds. If a balance spring lets go mid-removal, it can take fingers or worse. We do not recommend homeowners attempt this themselves. What you can safely do: identify your series from the glass etching, photograph the failed part, measure the visible frame width, and check for water staining around the interior. That preparation helps us bring the right parts on the first trip.

For everything beyond inspection and measurement, call us at (850) 930-1813. The phone is answered by a live person any time of day or night. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a hardware fix or a full window replacement, and what it should cost before you commit to anything.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."

GGuadalupe Zamorano
★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."
